Obtaining FBI Fingerprints

To comply with the Pennsylvania requirements for FBI clearance, your fingerprint background card must be sent to IdentoGo and processed as a PA Volunteer using the code for the PA Department of Human Service. Below are options of how you can obtain a fingerprint in your state. Read Carefully and follow directions to mail your card.

Option 1

If you live near PA or are planning to travel to PA, we highly recommend this option.

  • Cost $25


*During the registration process you may see that there is a location in New Jersey that will offer digital fingerprinting for PA Volunteers. It is worth the time to follow the registration instructions for PA Resident Volunteers to see if there is a location near you.

Option 2 IdentoGo

Check the IdentoGo Site to see if there is an office location near you.

  • If the office offers the Fingerprint Card option, choose this option and follow the instructions below.
  • Cost $43

Option 3 Find a provider on your own that will do fingerprinting.

  • If you know of a fingerprinting location that is closer to you than any of the options above, make an appointment for a fingerprinting card.
  • Once you have your fingerprint card follow directions below  starting at step 2 to mail in the card.
  • Cost: Amount of fingerprinting plus $23 to mail to IdentoGo

A FINGERPRINT CARD IS NOT A BACKGROUND CLEARANCE! DO NOT GIVE FCA THESE CARDS AS YOUR DOCUMENTATION!

You MUST mail the card to IdentoGo to conduct the background check for PA Department of Human Services.

Step #1

  1. Choose Get Fingerprinted
  2. Choose Fingerprint Card under Services on left menu
  3. Choose schedule or manage an appointment to get your fingerprint card made
  • Go to your local office at your appointed time to obtain your fingerprint card.

Step #2

  • Go to the enrollment page of the Identogo website (use link below to get to page)
  • Enter PA service code 1KG6ZJ
  • Choose the option Submit a Fingerprint Card by mail.
  • Fill out the personal information.
  • For Employer information:
  • If student indicate Student and fill in your address
  • If retired indicate retired and fill in your address
  • If employed, fill out information.

  • On the next page you will be prompted to create a security question.
  • Write down the question and the answer in a safe place so you have it later to retrieve your Eligibility Letter. This question and answer can not be reset and can not be given to you.
  • Continue through the next several pages adding your personal information
  • On the page where you search for you local location, you do not need to enter anything. You will be mailing your card in.
  • You do not have a coupon or Authorization Code.
  • You will be charged about $22
  • Upon completion of the form, you will be given an address to mail the generated form and your fingerprint card to. 
  • Mail card to the address indicated at the completion of the form.

Getting your Results

IMPORTANT!!

  • If you provided your email in the registration process, applicants with “No Criminal History Found”  will be emailed from "the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania PASafeCheck System" with a  link to access your Eligibility Letter.
  • We recommend opening the email ONLY on a computer as you must be prepared to download, save or print the Eligibility Letter when accessing it the first time. 

YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE LINK ONCE!!

  • This link is time sensitive and needs to be open within 30 days.
  • The email link cannot be reset or re-emailed.
  • After clicking the emailed link, you will have three attempts to correctly answer your Security Question to retrieve your Eligibility Letter.
  • Check your spam/junk folder frequently
  • If you are unable to open the email or accidentally used your onetime access and did not save your document, you will need to contact PA department of Human Services at 1-877-371-5422. Follow the prompts to talk to someone about your FBI clearance. It would be very helpful if you had your Identego receipt in front of you to give the appropriate numbers and info.


Additionally: You will only receive Unofficial Results from Identogo and the PA Department of Human Services. "Official" copies are only able to be obtained by authorized agencies. FCA is not one of those agencies. We will accept your unofficial results.

Once you have received your FBI Clearance Letter

Make a copy for your records
