PA Background Checks

We recommend that you use a computer, not a mobile device, read all instructions and tips thoroughly and TAKE YOUR TIME!

For the ease of completion, we also recommend using a computer and Google Chrome as your browser.

Required Pennsylvania Background Clearances

The State of Pennsylvania requires specific background clearance documents to be obtained and kept on file for volunteers having direct contact with minors.

  •  Please review the descriptions of each type of PA volunteers below.
  • Choose which category of volunteer you are.
  • Using the buttons below each volunteer category, follow the instructions and complete each clearance required.
  • Submit documentation certificates to DevonBrubaker@fca.org

  Once you have received ALL three documents. Please send to  Devon Brubaker. This documentation will be kept in a Dropbox folder both with the FCA PA office as well as the Mid-Atlantic Camps office.

FAQ

  • It's been 4 weeks and I still haven't received my FBI clearance paper. What do I do?

    These instructions are only for Identego FBI clearance processes:

    • Have you gone to Identego and had your Figerprints taken? No? Find your email from Identego and finish the process by making an appointment (refer to FBI fingerprint instructions above)
    • If you live out outside of  PA and were given a fingerprint card to mail, have you mailed your card to the appropriate address? (refer to FBI fingerprint instructions for your state)
    • Check your email (spam/junk) to insure that your unofficial results aren't there.
    • If you have done all of the above and you still don't have your results. 

    PA Volunteers and Out of State Volunteers Please call PA department of Human Services at 1-877-371-5422. Follow the prompts to talk to someone about your FBI clearance. It would be very helpful if you had your Identego reciept in front of you to give the appropriate numbers and info.


    FCA PA TEAMMATES and Others with Clearance through PA Department of Ed:  Please contact the Pennsylvania Department of Education at 717-783-3750 (you will hear music. Leave a message. A representative will return your call) or email them at ra-edfbi2@pa.gov (include your full name, UE ID#, and your full mailing address) and ask them for your Civil Applicant Response. 

  • I received my link to open my FBI results but it says "link not valid"

    • Please call PA department of Human Services at 1-877-371-5422. Follow the prompts to talk to someone about your FBI clearance. It would be very helpful if you had your Identego reciept in front of you to give the appropriate numbers and info.

  • What do I do if I have completed my PA Child abuse Clearance paper within the past 5 years but can't locate it?

    See first bold point under Child Abuse Clearance instructions.

  • I have my fingerprinting card now what?

    If you have a fingerprinting card you need to send it away for it to be reviewed.  Go to step 2 Mail a Fingerprint Card and follow directions.

Clearance Requirements Need to be Renewed every 5 years.
